Anthony Glennon - Profile

Having started his physiotherapy career at Jersey hospital in 2001, Anthony ventured to the UK to further his knowledge and experience. Amongst other jobs, he worked for the military in several locations with the elite infantry soldiers and within the centres of excellence for rehabilitation. This gave him valuable experience in soft tissue and joint injuries sustained under high level training. From there he travelled to Australia to work at the Youth Common Wealth games in Melbourne, aiding the treatment and recovery of young athletes.

Wanting to push his self development, he was led into the professional sporting world, joining Leicestershire County Cricket Club as their lead physiotherapist, whereby the club enjoyed success in the Twenty 20 competition. Here he had the opportunity to work with international players who demanded the highest standards of care, further enhancing his skill set. This was the same case when he was asked to join the medical team looking after the world renowned Red Arrow pilots. He ran with an RAF marathon team in Dayton Ohio in the American Airforce Marathon.

After a jet set journey, Anthony settled into private practice work and became a partner in what was to become one of the largest independent clinics within the UK, having a team of 23 physiotherapists spread over 7 practices. During this time he still managed to keep his hand in the sporting world, treating and rehabing Olympic swimmers who swam for the GB team in London and more recently, Rio.

On the education side, he helped mentor more junior members of his team and lectured on GP training schemes and to fully qualified GP’s in his local area. Helping the growth and development of the business, Anthony partook in a Leadership and Management course at University. He was invited to sit on the board of one of the first and largest GP federations in the UK, advising on business development and opportunities. Within this role he was involved in the first joint venture between an NHS foundation trust and a GP led private company.

After travelling backward and forward, helping in physio training and in business on the Island, Anthony and his young family are now based full time here and are looking forward to replicating the success he has had up to now.

He has recently helped out with the Jersey teams at the European Touch Rugby Championship.

“I’m delighted to be back home and the challenge to build and enhance my reputation. Having worked in a variety of settings, treating all types of injuries, I hope to help keep people fit and healthy, and enjoy life to the full.”
